Reaseheath College’s commercial sheep flock has won a county-wide accolade for the second year running.

The Nantwich college was awarded best entry in the sheep flock category in the Cheshire Farms Competition, a repeat of last year’s success.

The 550-flock is one of several commercial farming enterprises based on campus.

Now sheep unit manager Matthew Bagley is aiming for a hat trick next year – a feat never achieved before.

He said: “Judges looked at every aspect of the enterprise, from marketing to the breeding policy.

“This is a very prestigious prize because it means the way we manage the flock is regarded as top class.

“It confirms our students are learning best practice and they are taking that knowledge and expertise back into the industry.”

The Cheshire Farms Competition, one of the longest running in the industry, has categories covering crops, livestock and animal husbandry.

Past chairman Ian Garnett: “Success at our competition is regarded with tremendous respect.

“We were very impressed with Reaseheath’s entry again this year. The win was well deserved, as there were particularly high standards and increased entries in the sheep flock category.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
