Generous Nantwich residents have donated a staggering 210 bags of food for the town’s Foodbank in just two hours.
Nantwich Food festival volunteers organised its third “drop and go” collection event at Brine Leas School earlier today (June 22).
And it resulted in scores of local residents donating an amazing 210 bags of tinned food, toiletries and other much needed essentials for Nantwich Foodbank.
Visitors were able to drop off their donations in the car park at the Audlem Road school, to ensure they were observing social distancing guidelines.
Items were then sorted by volunteers and packed into a total of 98 crates to be taken to the Foodbank.
New Mayor of Nantwich, Councillor Pam Kirkham attended to support the event, accompanied by her consort, daughter Caroline.
A spokeswoman for the Food Festival said: “The Food Festival directors would like to thank everyone for their incredibly generous donations, the festival volunteers for all their hard
work and Brine Leas School for the use of their car park.”
