More than 100 people watched the Wistaston Singers choir perform a concert at St Mary’s Church in the village.

Phil Houghton was musical director and also introduced each song and soloist during the event watched by 120 people on Saturday night (October 15).

The programme included soloists Margaret Morris (soprano), Jane Hale (flute), Christopher White (ukulele) and Phil Houghton himself on the organ.

Jane Hale was also accompanist for the evening.

The choir sang a range of songs including Sing A Song Of Sixpence (Diack), The Lord is my shepherd (Goodall), All in the April Evening (Roberton), Te Deum (Stanford), and You’ll Never Walk Alone (Rodgers and Hammerstein).

Proceeds from the event will go to St Mary’s Church funds.

Phil Houghton said: “The Wistaston Singers performed to a rapturous audience. We perform all over South Cheshire to raise money for charity. We extend a warm welcome to anyone who would like to join our choir.”

The Wistaston Singers, formed by members of the choir at St Mary’s Parish Church, now has 35 members singing four-part harmony music.

The choir rehearses in the parish rooms of St Mary’s Church, Nantwich, on Wednesdays 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
