Bentley Motors in Crewe are planning to let up to 1,000 workers go from the South Cheshire plant, according to unconfirmed reports tonight.
ITV are reporting that the car plant’s 4,200 staff will be briefed tomorrow (June 5) on a “voluntary release program”.
Car production recently restarted at the Pyms Lane site after a period of lockdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Production on the Continental GT and Flying Spur lines is back underway, as the employer made a number of changes to ensure staff are social distancing and protected.
But the factory is believed to be only operating at 50% capacity.
ITV says staff who wish to take part in a voluntary release program will do so in return for severance payment.
