A young Nantwich nursery worker has been celebrated as South Cheshire College’s 100th apprentice.

Sandeep Singh, 18, signed up for a Level 3 Child Care apprenticeship she hopes will lead to full time employment.

Sandeep studies at college on Thursdays and works the rest of the week at Little Angels Pre School, Weaver Primary School, Nantwich.

She opted for the apprenticeship after completing a BTEC National Diploma in Health and Social Care at college.

Former Shavington High School pupil Sandeep said: “I definitely made the right choice by signing up for it.

“I wanted to do something that helped me to get my foot in the door in terms of permanent employment in the care sector.

“By working for four days at the nursery I’m learning lots of new skills working with pre-school children between 2 and 4 and the day at college gives me the theory side of things to improve my knowledge and understanding.”

There has been a sharp rise in the number of students undertaking apprenticeships at the college, rising from single figures to 100 in the last year.

John Warham, the college’s work related training manager, said: “We are very pleased Sandeep has become our 100th apprentice.

“This shows how popular these programmes have been and the progress we have made since we first launched them.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
