Trees were felled, buildings damaged, and roads flooded across South Cheshire which was battered by Storm Ciara over the last 18 hours.

A number of trees were reported down including on Shrewbridge Road in Nantwich, on the A51 near Cheerbrook, and over the River Weaver in Nantwich.

Many garden fences were blown down and numerous properties had tiles blown off and damaged.

Several roads were also flooded after torrential rain earlier in the day.

Rural roads around Nantwich and Wrenbury were under water, including Welshman’s Lane.

Maw Green at Crewe was also flooded.

There have been no reports of injuries, with emergency services answering hundreds of calls.

Cheshire East Highways warned people take care on roads and drive to the conditions.
