A man who plunged from a height while working at a building site in Nantwich has died, police have confirmed.

The 53-year-old victim was flown by air ambulance from the Stapeley Gardens site after the incident on June 19.

He was described as in a critical condition yesterday, but today police confirmed he has died.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “At around 9.30am on Wednesday 19 June, officers were called to reports that a man had fallen from scaffolding at a building site on London Road, Nantwich.

“A 53-year-old man sustained serious injuries and was to the Royal Stoke hospital.

“Sadly the man has since passed away.

“An investigation into the incident has been launched by Cheshire Police with assistance from the Health and Safety Executive.”

Police have not yet named the victim.
