Crewe and Nantwich athletes and organisations have been awarded grants of up to £500 by the Everybody Foundation.

The second round of grant awards saw 12 dished out, including supporting local athletes to represent their country in competitions and sporting clubs to have new equipment.

Alana Guantlett, a touch rugby player from near Nantwich, was awarded £160 to fund tournament fees to allow Alana to represent her country. She represented the England Touch U15s at the Junior Touch Championship in Stirling, Scotland in August 2018.

Ben Nurse, a touch rugby play from near Nantwich, was selected to represent the England Mixed Touch U18s at the Junior Touch Championship in Stirling, Scotland in August. Ben was awarded £160 to fund tournament fees to allow Ben to represent his country.

Amelia Atkinson, from Nantwich, and a high and long jumper for Crewe & Nantwich Athletics Club and Cheshire, was awarded £135 which funded 50% of the fees to attend an athletics camp.

Milly Forsfield, a 12-year-old taking part in Judo, was awarded £232 to fund a new judo suit and regional development centre fees.

Oliver Atkinson, from Nantwich and an athlete for Crewe & Nantwich Athletics Club and in the UK top 20 rankings for Hammer, Javelin, 800m and Pentathlon, was awarded £135 to 50% fund attendance at an athletics camp.

Tom Keatman, a 13-year-old street skateboarder, was awarded £500 to contribute towards coaching sessions.

Abby Warren, a target rifle shooter from Crewe and a member of the Everybody Talented Athlete Support Scheme, was awarded £500 to help to fund Abby to attend the World Championships in Korea at the end of August 2018.

Tom Warren, a target rifle shooter from Crewe and member of Everybody Talented Athelte Support Scheme, was awarded £250 to help to fund Tom to participate at the Junior International competition at Bisley.

Koshido-Ryu Sandbach Karate Centres in Sandbach were awarded £213.96 to fund additional equipment to allow new and current participants to participate more safely and at a higher intensity.

Peter Hartwell, Everybody Foundation Chairman, said: “It has been another exciting round of applications for grant funding from the Foundation and we were so pleased to see so many young and talented athletes approach our charity for support.

“We are proud to be able to give them the opportunity to compete and represent their country or have more coaching to help them improve their skills.”

The third round of grant funding applications to Everybody Foundation has now been completed and will be announced in the new year.
