A lorry driver had a lucky escape after colliding with a railway bridge on Whitchurch Road, Beeston.
It happened at around noon on A49 close to Beeston cattle market.
Fire crews attended the scene with other emergency services including the Environment Agency.
Crews used specialist equipment to stop the diesel from going into a drain and Highways Agency cleared up the spillage.
The driver was not trapped and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
Relatives of the driver say on social media she is not injured but shaken.
The lorry has now been recovered and firefighters have left the scene.
The incident is now in the hands of Highways Agency.

Fortunately it sounds like the lorry driver was not injured which we should all be grateful for.
Lorry drivers should be prosecuted for dangerous and careless driving in situations like this. The bridge is CLEARLY marked about the height restrictions, and there are warning signs on the approach to the bridge. Truck drivers know the height of their vehicle so there should be no excuses.
The main railway line from Crewe to Chester and North Wales was closed for several hours causing disruption for hundreds of passengers – the lorry companies need to be liable and fined for such bad driving by their drivers as well as picking up the costs of the emergency and recovery services.
Might need the paramedics again when she goes to see the boss!
