Crewe and Nantwich RUFC 1st team paid tribute to their club stalwart Nick Price before kick off in their Midlands 2 West clash at Wolverhampton.

Nick had held a number of key roles in the club after his playing career finished.

And as a mark of respect, both sets of players and supporters joined in a minute’s applause before kick off.

Crewe & Nantwich began the game badly and a series of drives from the hosts’ forwards led to quick ball to the left wing who broke a couple of tackles to score 7-0.

The game was then stopped for a head injury to the Wolverhampton fly half which led to hospital visit, Crewe wish him a speedy recovery.

The visitors resumed the game the stronger, but a questionable turnover at the ruck gave Wolverhampton the opportunity to release their right wing to score in the corner for 12-0. A further penalty gave the home side a 15-0 lead at half time.

The second half started brightly for Crewe but after some good pressure they knocked on, allowing their hosts to again move the ball to their right winger who again broke tackles to score under posts for 22-0.

Crewe came back at their hosts and again ball was turned over in the Wolverhampton 22 for another breakaway try, this time from the outside centre for 27-0.

As so often happens when a side are chasing the game, Crewe conceded another try from deep to slip to 34-0.

Crewe then managed to keep hold of the ball and good combination play between forwards and backs gave full back George Colebourne a consolation try in the corner, 34-5.

Wolverhampton had the final the score against a tired opponent and the match ended 41-5.

Crewe played well for periods and the score perhaps flattered their hosts but missed tackles were to cost them dear.

It’s been a tough start for the 1st team under new coach John Farr, after three consecutive defeats and just two bonus points on the board.

They travel to face local rivals Leek this Saturday (October 6) in a bid to put that right.

The 2nds also found it tough going at the weekend, suffering a heavy 62-14 defeat away at Widnes.

But the 3rds continued good form with a 38-29 win at home over Bowdon.

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
