Words and Music Festival - British Sea Power

The organisers of Nantwich Words & Music Festival believe there is something for everyone in this year’s amazing line-up.

The event, which runs from October 8 to 14, is now in its 11th year.

It brings musicians, songwriters and poets to the town residents would only normally see perform in city venues or festivals.

During the week-long event, there will be Beat Boxing Champions to Comedy Poets, 70s and 80s heart-throb pop singers to a prog–rock legend, a Tequila Party night to award-winning folk singers, indie bands to singer-songwriters and much more.

Highlights this year include indie legends British Sea Power (pictured), Irish folk singer Cara Dillon, Tex-Mex party night with Los Pacaminos featuring Paul Young, and UK beatboxing champion Grace Savage.

There will also be comic poet Les Barker, singer-songwriter Judy Tzuke, Marillion frontman Steve Hogarth, up and coming folk rockers CC Smugglers, Scottish singer Horse McDonald and a very special show from Nantwich resident singer-songwriter Thea Gilmore.

Also performing around town in various venues will be Noah and the Whale’s Matt Owens, Abbie Ozard and her band, The Fireflys, Chas Thorogood, Anni Dressner, Oli Ng, plus free entertainment on the square.

BBC 6 Music’s Chris Hawkins is judging the festival’s songwriting competition.

Organiser Nigel Stonier said: “We’re very excited about this year’s line-up.

“We’re always trying to diversify and push the boundaries rather than rest on our laurels.

“We want to bring the most eclectic mix of words and music as we possibly can to Nantwich.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
