A South Cheshire homeless man who breached a Criminal Behaviour Order a day after it was imposed on him, has been jailed.
Kevin Holleran (pictured), 49, was given the order on Friday after committing a series of anti-social behaviour offences in Crewe town centre.
The following day he breached one of the conditions by going to the Crewe Civic Centre car park, and when he was arrested he hurled abusive language at a police officer in an aggressive manner.
Holleran, of no fixed abode, appeared at Crewe Magistrates’ Court on Monday (May 14).
Cheshire Police Chief Inspector Simon Newell, of the Crewe Local Policing Unit, said: “Over the past few months, Holleran has been a real problem within the town centre, displaying anti-social behaviour and being involved in alcohol-related disorder.
“Such behaviour is really distressing to the public who witness it and impacts on the footfall of the businesses in the area.
“Despite the best efforts of police and other partner agencies, Holleran has refused to engage with any support services wanting to house him.
“He showed no regard for the Criminal Behaviour Order that was imposed on him, breaching it within a day.
“And I am really pleased with the custodial sentence handed out by the court as it sends a strong message to the minority who cause the biggest problems in Crewe that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.
“We have worked tirelessly with partner agencies to address the issue of homelessness in Crewe and there are a lot of services available to support those living on the streets.
“However, if they refuse to engage and behave in a way that blights the town centre, the police and courts will take robust action to help make Crewe a safer place to live.”
Holleran admitted using abusive language in a public place, being in possession of an open container, assaulting a constable in the execution of their duty, failing to comply with supervision requirements following release from prison and two counts of commission of a further offence while subject to a conditional discharge order.
He was jailed for three months and ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.
