Coalville - forbes and sean cooke celebrate v nuneaton town

Sean Cooke’s 15th goal of the season set the tone as Nantwich Town ran out 3-0 winners away at Coalville Town, writes Ryan Batty.

Cooke headed in after eight minutes and David Forbes doubled the lead five minutes before the interval following a goalmouth scramble.

Joe Mwasile finished the job on 66 minutes, pouncing on a mistake from the goalkeeper to turn it into an empty net.

The first chance of the afternoon came after two minutes for the hosts, as a decent run on the right from Cleveland Taylor saw his effort gathered easily by Fabian Spiess.

Nantwich would not have to wait long to take the lead.

Courtney Wildin’s excellent cross found Cooke who was able to head past Matt Coton in the Coalville net.

The hosts could have equalised soon after through a shot from McGlinchey, whose curled effort smacked against the crossbar.

It was end-to-end stuff in the first 20 minutes.

A cross fell to Harry Clayton, and the striker’s half-volley ricocheted off the post.

Nantwich had another great chance on 25 minutes, when Mwasile took the ball round Coton. The winger tried to square to Clayton, but a bobble in the mud denied the forward.

Five minutes from the break, Cooke was clattered on the left by Nat Watson.

Cooke’s subsequent free-kick found Troy Bourne at the back post, and he headed it into the path of Forbes, who made no mistake from a few yards out to make it 2-0 Dabbers.

Coalville came out in the second half strongly, but Nantwich were well-prepared for the fightback.

The first real chance of the second half came for the hosts on the hour mark.

Spiess rushed out to face an oncoming attacker, made the clearance but only as far as Dan Creaney whose first time lob went over the bar.

The Dabbers sealed victory with 25 minutes to go.

Cooke’s corner was fumbled by Coton who let the ball drop to Mwasile and he simply slotted the ball into the back of the net.

Coton made a brilliant save to deny a fourth Dabbers goal as Forbes broke free at the back post but saw his half volley tipped over the bar.

The Coalville keeper kept the scoreline down as he then denied Wildin who played a fine one two with Hughes before seeing his driven effort palmed over the crossbar.

And Cooke had one final chance with a free-kick which was headed off the line by Kyle Bryant.

The Dabbers now face two home games, starting with Crewe Alexandra in the Cheshire Senior Cup on Tuesday (February 6), before returning to the Weaver Stadium on Saturday to take on Matlock Town.

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
