A 31-year-old man has been arrested in South Cheshire after a taxi driver was stabbed in Manchester.

Cheshire Police made the arrest on Market Street, in Crewe, on suspicion of attempted murder on behalf of Greater Manchester Police.

He was arrested in connection with a stabbing in Moss Side on Saturday November 11 and was taken to Manchester for questioning today.

The taxi driver, a 42-year-old, is believed to have picked a man up on Dickenson Road, Longsight, before driving to Ruskin Avenue.

It is alleged there was an argument over the fare before the driver was repeatedly stabbed.

The driver was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries but has now been discharged.

Detective Inspector Geoff Machent, of GMP’s City of Manchester team, said: “We have been carrying out significant enquiries since this disgusting attack on a taxi driver as he attempted to do his job and an arrest has now been made.

“Yesterday afternoon, a 31-year-old man was arrested in Crewe on suspicion of attempted murder and he will be transported to GMP custody for questioning today.”

Anyone with information should call Greater Manchester Police on 101 quoting incident number 2017 of November 11 2017.

Alternatively they can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
