Holly Fair Christmas stall l-r Doreen Jones, Anne Jones, Vicky Bowen, Mel Turner

The annual ‘Holly Fair’ at Wells Green Methodist Church in Wistaston has helped to raise more than £1,800 for church funds, writes Jonathan White.

In the entrance hall, there was a hamper made up of Fair Traded goods, sponsored by Wells Green Choir, and a stall of Traidcraft foods and Christmas gifts.

Santa Claus was kept busy in his grotto, providing gifts to all boys and girls.

The stalls in the church included toys, books, costume jewellery, a Christmas stall, cakes, a green and purple stall, crafts and preserves.

There was also a competition to win two knitted animals, with the money raised going towards the postage for the 2018 Shoebox Appeal.

The cafe offered a wide variety of refreshments for sale, including soup, quiches, sandwiches, rolls, cakes, trifles and jellies.

Teresa Hoper and Myra Wood co-ordinated the food and drinks and Pat Nott organised the publicity and the stalls.

The event raised £1,851.35 for church funds and its mission.

Pat Nott, from Wells Green Methodist Church, said: “The Holly Fair is an excellent community event, which is held on the first Saturday in November every year.

“Wells Green members are very generous with their giving and without their support, the fair wouldn’t happen.

“It’s a huge team effort and we very much enjoy working together.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
