Baker Wynne & Wilson community pledge

Big-hearted bosses at Nantwich estate agents Baker Wynne & Wilson are celebrating 25 years in business – by handing out £25,000 to local causes!

John Baker said the idea is to thank all the support the agents have had from the community over the last quarter of a century.

And today (February 14), applications are now open for local organisations, community groups and causes to apply for a share of the £25,000 funding.

The company, run by John Baker and Simon Morgan-Wynne, has sold more than 3,600 houses since it opened its doors on Pepper Street in 1992.

They have invited a judging panel to look at applications with announcements due in the summer.

Audlem-born John, who entered the industry straight from college in 1976, said: “Simon and I have been selling houses in the Nantwich area all of our working lives.

“The Nantwich community spirit is second to none and as such, we felt strongly about celebrating 25 years in business by giving back to the community that has moulded us.

“We anticipate making around 15 donations.

“However, it is up to local organisations, charities and groups to help us decide what they need in terms of funding and who it will benefit.

“To say we are excited is an understatement and we look forward to receiving as many applications as possible.”

The judging panel for the project includes:

Sarah Callander-Beckett, The High Sheriff of Cheshire 2017, Chair of Judging Panel
Steve Leonard, local Vet and TV personality
Christine Farrall, past mayor of Nantwich
Mike Heler, Managing Director of Joseph Heler Cheese
Sue Baker, representing Baker Wynne and Wilson

Closing date for applications is Friday May 12.

Short-listed applications will be announced on Thursday June 15 and the final successful applicants being announced by the end of July.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
