runners - South Cheshire Harriers raising for Nantwich Food Bank

South Cheshire Harriers runners have been cycling and pounding the streets in December – this time in aid of Nantwich Food Bank.

Local runners and cyclists have been braving the elements every day during Christmas Advent to raise awareness of the cause.

It follows a similar effort a year ago when they did it to raise funds for Elle’s Wishes, in aid of cystic fibrosis sufferer Elle Morris, from Wrenbury.

Throughout advent, Tara Crisp and fellow South Cheshire Harriers members have been getting up earlier than normal to run or cycle around the streets of Crewe and Nantwich.

“Christmas is a time of good will and showing kindness to others,” said Tara, from Nantwich.

“Poverty and hunger is a modern day tragedy and winter – especially Christmas – is an awful time to be without.

“I wasn’t aware of the food bank until a couple of months ago and so the idea is just to make people aware and donate some money or food if they can.

“The work Nantwich Food Bank does, run by volunteers, is vital to help those who find themselves in crisis by providing three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them.

“They are part of a nationwide network of food banks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

“I appreciate Christmas is an expensive time of year, but poverty can affect anyone at any time.

“So I would ask everyone to dig deep and donate money or food to help those less fortunate than themselves.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
