Alex Staniforth and new book about Everest, Icefall

A young Cheshire adventurer will be unveiling his new book in Nantwich about climbing Everest.

Alex Staniforth’s book Icefall chronicles his experience tackling Mount Everest, and surviving a devastating avalanche.

The 21-year-old, from Chester, will be at Nantwich Bookshop on Nantwich High Street on July 22, when he will be speaking about his experiences and signing copies.

In 2015, former Tarporley High School pupil Alex narrowly cheated death during his second expedition to reach the Everest summit.

He believes adversity is his greatest teacher, and is no stranger to obstacles with epilepsy, anxiety, depression, bullying and a stammer plaguing his school years.

In 2015 he returned to the world’s highest peak and stared death in the face when a huge earthquake struck Nepal and triggered avalanches which took the lives of three of his team.

A year on from the tragedy, Alex relives the ordeal through his book.

In 2014, his first expedition to Everest was aborted following a tragic avalanche above base camp.

After that he created the EPIC7 projec – a series of endurance challenges to prepare himself for a second attempt.

He became the first person to complete the National 3 Peaks Cycle challenge solo – 440 miles cycling and climbing the three highest UK peaks in four days.

Alex will at Nantwich Bookshop from 7pm.

He has pledged to donate a contribution from his book sales (RRP £12.99) to a charity supporting the people of Nepal.

So far he has raised more than £50,000 for charity, climbed Mont Blanc, carried the London 2012 Olympic torch and attempted a world record attempt on a 7,000m Himalayan peak.

He is an ambassador for the Westgrove Group and YHA England & Wales.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
