A Nantwich man has been arrested on suspicion of rape by officers investigating an alleged sex assault in the town centre.
The 24-year-old man is being held on suspicion of rape and is currently helping officers with their enquiries.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said a cordon that was in place on Mill Island in Nantwich, as part of the investigation, has now been lifted.
The cordon was set up in the early hours of this morning and was in place for most of the day.
No further details have been released at this time.
