Hundreds lined Nantwich town centre’s streets to watch the eighth annual ‘Weaver Wander’, writes Jonathan White.
The event, organised by the Rotary Club of Crewe & Nantwich Weaver, attracted a record 140 classic & sports cars.
Among the vehicles taking part were numerous MGs, Porsches, Triumphs, Minis, an AC Cobra, Rolls-Royces, and Bentleys.
The car owners followed a 90-mile route through Cheshire and Shropshire, stopping halfway at Chirk Castle for lunch.
Nantwich Mayor Cllr Andrew Martin and Rotary Club of Crewe & Nantwich Weaver Senior Vice President Mike Constable were on hand to flag off each vehicle at Nantwich town square from 9.30am yesterday (May 28).
To date, more than £30,000 has been raised for charities by the Weaver Wander through entry fees and sponsorship, including from main sponsor Car Transplants.
This year’s proceeds are in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and Parkinson’s UK, along with other local charities that are supported by the Rotary club.
