Sister Act, Curtain Call Productions, Crewe Lyceum

Curtain Call Productions brings ‘Sister Act’, a fun-filled hit musical to The Lyceum this week, writes Claire Faulkner.

Based on the well-known film of the same name, ‘Sister Act’ tells the story of ‘Deloris Van Cartier’, who after witnessing a murder goes into hiding in a convent.

Disguised as a Nun, Deloris brings her own unique style and spirit to the church and those around her, learning about herself and sisterhood along the way.

Curtain Call Productions always entertain, and ‘Sister Act’ had the audience completely enthralled from the very beginning.

The set design and quick changes were impressive and ambitious as was the choreography, but it all worked brilliantly.

It’s difficult to pick just one favourite moment from the show, because there were just so many.

‘Its Good to Be a Nun’, ‘The Life I Never Lead’ and ‘I Could Be That Guy’ were all great, and I could easily watch them and the entire over again.

Paula Kay was fabulous as ‘Deloris’, she gave a strong performance and has a wonderful voice.

I hope she returns to The Lyceum again soon.

Both Jenny Hall, who played ‘Mother Superior’ and Natalie Beechcroft as ‘Mary Patrick’, were both brilliantly funny and very well cast.

One of the funniest moments in the show came from ‘Joey’, ‘Pablo’ and ‘TJ’ in ‘Lady in the Long Black Dress’ – Ryan Bearpark, Matt O’Donnell and Sean Hargreaves, I am still laughing.

‘Sister Act’ is full of good music, laughter and fun, so if you want a good night out get yourself to The Lyceum.

‘Sister Act’ runs until Saturday May 14.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
