Neil and Karen Robinson from Crewe are organising their fifth annual ‘Voice & Brass’ charity concert in aid of Muscular Dystrophy UK, and their 8 year old son, Thomas, who was diagnosed with a severe muscle-wasting condition when he was only 6 months old.
This year, the concert will feature not only Crewe Male Voice Choir, but also The Co-operative Funeralcare Band North West, at St Peter’s Church in Earle Street in Crewe, on Saturday 16th April at 7.30pm.
Neil explains “When Thomas was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, we just felt so helpless, and straight away decided to try to raise some money to help find a cure”.
Neil and Karen along with their friends and family have since taken part in various activities such as triathlons, Crewe Alex collections and even a ‘Queen’ tribute concert, so far raising around £15,000 all of which has been used to fund research into finding a cure for Thomas’ condition.
Karen says “As time passes, we can see Thomas’ mobility decreasing, and he will eventually need a wheelchair full time, so we really need a cure or even a treatment as soon as possible for him before it’s too late”.
Advance tickets are £8 (£9 on the door) and are available from Crewe Male Voice Choir Members or contact 01270 212236.
