The men behind plans to open The Beer Dock in Nantwich say the new outlet will offer the town “something different”.
The Beer Dock is set to be a franchise run by Jon Mitchell and Mike Ramm – the duo behind the successful stand-up comedy nights at Nantwich Civic Hall.
And if their bid for a licence application is successful, it could see the shop opening in the former Job Centre building on Swinemarket as soon as May or June.
The original outlet launched in Crewe in the summer of 2013, and has proved a massive hit with thousands of different bottled beers on offer, sourced locally and across the globe.
For Sam McGarrigle, who set up the Beer Dock brand three years ago on Nantwich Road, the move marks the next step in the company’s growth.
Jon said: “We’re excited at the prospect of a new boutique shop bringing craft and artisan ales to the town.
“Like Nantwich, the craft beer scene is thriving and Beer Dock will bring the same values and feel as the highly popular Crewe outlet.
“Beer Dock is quite unique. It’s not a bar, it doesn’t have music. It’s just about great beers.
“It’s a simple but engaging concept of a shop stocking hundreds of different beers, either to take away and enjoy at home or sample in our tasting room.
“The Beer Dock style absolutely fits Nantwich too, which is home to so many bespoke, independent businesses offering something different.”
The live comedy shows, which run every month, have garnered a reputation for bringing some of the very best acts to Nantwich.
Top comedians to perform in Nantwich include Greg Davies, Chris Ramsey and Jim Jefferies.
Further details about the new shop will be announced over the coming weeks.
