Pheasant Inn in Higher Burwardsley

The Pheasant Inn in Burwardsley near Nantwich has been named runner up in the Pub Of The Year category at the BBC Countryfile Magazine Awards.

Experts, including John Craven and Chris Packham, were involved in the nomination process.

The Pub Of The Year shortlist was compiled by Fiona Stapley, editor of the Good Pub Guide, and included five pubs from around the UK.

Members of the public were invited to vote for their favourite pub.

The Pheasant Inn was named runner up, with the Applecross Inn in Scotland taking first place.

Describing The Pheasant Inn, the Countryfile Magazine Awards stated: “This peaceful pub in the Peckforton Hills enjoys magnificent panoramas across the plains and is a rambler’s paradise.

“Attractive old tables and chairs squat under heavy beams, while a huge fireplace, great food and drink, and comfortable rooms ensure all post-walk needs are met.”

Pheasant Inn general manager Chris Duxbury said: “We were delighted to have been selected in our category by the BBC’s Countryfile Magazine and the Good Pub Guide.

“As the only pub listed for Cheshire and the Northwest, this was quite an accolade!

“We would like to thank all our customers and supporters who voted for us during the last few months.

“To be named runner up in these prestigious national awards, as voted by our valued customers, is an incredible achievement for everyone involved in The Pheasant Inn’s ongoing success.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
