The family of a missing Nantwich man with dementia have made an emotional appeal for his return.
Richard Tomlinson and Kate Tomlinson, son and granddaughter of 83-year-old Roy Tomlinson, have issued a statement as the search for him continues.
Roy walked out of Brookfield House care home off Shrewbridge Road, Nantwich, at around 5pm on Tuesday (January 26).
And despite a massive search by police and search and rescue teams, he has not been found.
Richard and Kate said: “Words cannot begin to describe how we are feeling at this incredibly difficult time.
“We are desperate to find Roy and every day that passes it is becoming more and more difficult.
“We are hopeful for some news as to his whereabouts and would like to thank everyone who is involved in the search and all those who have shared the appeal.
“It has brought us some comfort to know that so many people are thinking about Roy – and trying their very best to locate him.
“We would ask people to check any sheds or outbuildings in case Roy has sought shelter – and to pass on any information, which could assist police with their enquiries.”
Cheshire Police are becoming increasingly concerned for Roy, who has dementia and can become confused.
They say finding Roy remains a top priority for the force and a team of trained search officers have been deployed along with the underwater search team and the dog unit.
They are being helped by volunteers at Cheshire Search and Rescue and colleagues from the National Police Air Service.
They have been searching Shavington, Hough and Crewe areas as well as Nantwich, and divers have searched Nantwich Lake.
Officers have also been going door to door in the area asking residents.
Chief Inspector Gareth Lee, head of Crewe Local Policing Unit (LPU), said: “Officers have followed up several lines of enquiry generated by members of the public.
“I would like to thank the local community for their ongoing support and would once again ask local people to be vigilant and keep a lookout for Roy.
“We would urge anyone who may have seen him or anyone matching his description to get in touch.
“Any information – no matter how small – could assist with our enquiries.”
Roy is 5ft 10in with grey receding hair.
He was last seen wearing a grey jumper, jeans and black or brown shoes. He is not thought to have been wearing a coat.
Anyone with any information is urged to call police on 101 quoting incident number 559 of 26th January.
