train hit person - Arriva Trains Wales - Nantwich railway station sign

Nantwich commuters face rail travel disruption when they return to work on Monday – with all Arriva Trains Wales services cancelled due to strike action.

A planned 24-hour strike by Arriva Trains Wales drivers, as part of a dispute over pay and conditions, looks set to go ahead.

Any hopes of a resolution to the dispute appear to have ended.

Members of ASLEF union will walk out on Monday (January 4), the day many return to work after the Christmas break.

The union said a pay deal had been accepted, but a dispute remained with changes to terms and conditions.

Arriva said it “regrets” the disruption.

An Arriva spokesperson advised customers to make alternative travel arrangements for Monday and to check travel plans for Tuesday.

A spokesperson for Arriva Trains Wales said: “Regrettably, all Arriva Trains Wales services on Monday 4 January throughout our network are expected to be cancelled due to threatened industrial action by train driver unions.

“Arriva Trains Wales can confirm that the threatened 24 hour industrial action by driver unions (ASLEF and RMT) is expected to go ahead.

“Industrial action may disrupt early morning services on Tuesday January 5. An on-going overtime ban may impact other timetabled services.

“Arriva Trains Wales apologise for this disruption and is seeking the soonest resolution.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
