Treasured items from the museum’s reserve collection are brought to light in the exhibition.

Some costumes from the Costume Through the Ages exhibitionHighlights include a Cheshire Regiment military dress jacket, a charming Victorian love letter accompanied by fine ladies’ accessories, and a rare 18th century tortoiseshell pocket watch by James Green of Nantwich.

There are also displays on award-winning shoemaker J. H. Singleton and celebrated fashion editor Isabella Blow, both former local residents.

Visitors can have fun assembling their own outfits with a dress-up wardrobe of period clothing, and try their hand at the costume quiz.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
