Manchester Camerata will return to perform at Crewe Lyceum in the New Year with a season of three orchestral concerts.
The concerts, supported by the Arts Council England and Cheshire East Council, will showcase one of Europe’s best chamber orchestras.
It will feature top classical talent from across the world.
Crewe Lyceum theatre director Gordon Millar said: “We are privileged to welcome an incredible series of revered and popular classical concerts to the Lyceum.
“We are most grateful to the Arts Council and Cheshire East for their support.
“Not only does it ensure we can stage the concerts but it also provides an opportunity for members of our local community to engage in a series of complimentary music workshops.”
The programme starts on January 4 with a Viennese concert featuring soprano Olena Tokar and up-and-coming conductor, Alpesh Chauhan.
On Friday March 11, the Lyceum welcomes pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet for an all-Mozart programme.
Violin sensation Nicola Benedetti makes her debut on June 2 with another Mozart inspired concert. Benedetti is joined by conductor, Andrea Marcon who is renowned for his vivid interpretations of Baroque and Classical pieces.
As well as the concerts, Manchester Camerata’s Learning and Participation team will be working with young people across South Cheshire.
Eighty young people from four Cheshire colleges are being invited to create a piece of music theatre called ‘Fatal Distraction’.
It aims to raise awareness of the dangers of distractions while driving.
They will work with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and teacher training students from University of Chester.
Crewe Lyceum and Manchester Camerata will also work with Cheshire East Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) to invite young people with a mental health condition and families to rehearsal visits, social sessions with musicians and attendance at concerts.
