Blackpool Under 21's Latin, AJ and Chloe, now to star on BBC Strictly

South Cheshire dance duo AJ Pritchard and Chloe Hewitt have won the most important competition in the world of dance.

Former Brine Leas student AJ, 20, and his 19-year-old partner have been crowned The British Amateur Latin Under 21 Champions – a contest which attracts the world’s best.

It’s the latest in a long line of accolades the couple have achieved since they rose to fame in Britain’s Got Talent in 2013.

And this title was won at the home of ballroom, Blackpool in 1931, against opponents from America, Asia, China, and Europe.

The May Blackpool Dance Festival held in The Winter Gardens sees dancers from around the globe compete for the most prestigious titles.

AJ & Chloe, who train at his family’s Pritchards Dance and Fitness School at Burleydam near Nantwich, are the first English couple to win the title in 15 years.

The couple are the reigning British National Youth Latin Champions 2012, 2013 and 2014.

They are also the Reigning British National Youth Ballroom Champions 2013, and reigning United Kingdom Closed Youth Latin Champions 2012, 2013 and 2014.

They won a string of other awards in the youth class, then in January 2014 they specialised in Latin and came 3rd in The WDC European Youth Latin Championships 2014.

They were runners up in The British Open Youth Latin Championship 2014, winning three dances.

They were finalists in The British Open Rising Stars Amateur Latin Championships 2014 and 2105, and reigning British National Youth Latin Champions 2014.

Now, being crowned British Amateur Latin under 21 Champions of 2015, is seen by many as the most prestigious title in the world.

In August 2016, they will be taking part in Shanghai in China for the first time.

The couple are hoping to attract sponsors to help fund their bid to defend the title in China.

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

  1. I understand the dancing, I even understand the sequins, but why do the women wear make-up that makes them look like aliens.
