Heritage opera La Traviata

Heritage Opera returned to Nantwich Civic Hall this week with an outstanding performance of ‘La Traviata’, writes Claire Faulkner.

Testament to the company’s growing reputation was evident in the sheer number of people who had travelled to see their latest production.

Verdi’s ‘La Traviata’ is about love and sacrifice, and tells the ill fated story of ‘Violetta’ and ‘Alfredo’.

It is a real joy to watch any production by Heritage Opera.

The amount of work and skill needed to perform opera must be extraordinary, but the cast make it look easy.

I don’t know much about opera, but I’m sure it’s not that easy.

The strength of the cast and the sound they produce is simply spell-binding.

You don’t have to be an opera fan to appreciate that.

Sarah Helsby Hughes directs and stars as ‘Violetta’, and seems to be on stage for the entire production.

Cast opposite is Nicholas Sales as ‘Alfredo’.

Their voices complement and support each other, and when performing the audience cannot help but be transfixed and get fully engaged into the story.

Congratulations Heritage Opera, a wonderful performance.

I’m sure Verdi would have approved.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
