Willaston public meeting with Brian Silvester

More than 200 people packed a public meeting in Willaston to discuss controversial housing applications.

Villagers aired their concerns at Willaston Primary School over applications which could see another 300 homes being built on green space.

Stretton Willaston Ltd has submitted the latest one – a bid to build 175 houses on land between Park Road and the railway line.

Before that, Wainhomes unveiled a plan to build 120 homes on land on the side of the railway line, near to Cheerbrook Road.

Willaston and Rope Ward Councillor Brian Silvester (pictured at the meeting) praised local residents for turning out in force to protest about two proposed housing developments in the village.

He said: “I spoke to the residents and answered questions for over an hour. Local people are really angry.

“More than 200 houses have already been passed in the village in the last year and now a further 300 are in the pipeline. They are saying enough is enough.

“It is time to put a stop to it. Most people went away from the meeting pledging to wrote in to object.

“They want to put an end to all this development before the village is destroyed.

“Details of the two applications are below. I am grateful to Willaston School and the headteacher for hosting the meeting.”

Deadline for views to Cheshire East Council on Cheerbrook Road plans is midday on February 12.

Deadline for Park Road views is midday on February 26.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
