Nantwich Mayor Cllr Christine Farrall will be presenting awards to recognise and celebrate individuals, groups and businesses that make a real difference to the town.

Eight “Salt of the Earth” Awards will be presented at a reception on Friday March 27 at Nantwich Civic Hall before The Mayor’s Charity Dance.

“We have many unsung heroes in Nantwich who give up their own time and work incredibly hard to improve other people’s lives,” she said.

“We want to hear about them and their stories but importantly, we want to say ‘thank you’.”

Residents in Nantwich can submit nominations for awards in a range of categories.

The categories include:

Community Volunteer Award – a person, who has taken an active role in shaping their community, helps provide services to more vulnerable residents and encourages community spirit and growth.

Making Communities Safer Award – acknowledging people who work in their communities to help make the lives of residents safer.

Young Volunteer Award (Under 18) – a young person who has made an outstanding contribution to projects or initiatives in the community.

Business Support in the Community – a business that has supported their community.

Supporting Children Award – individual or group making a difference to the lives of children, so they can achieve their full potential.

Outstanding Organisation/Group – a local volunteer group/organisation to recognise their outstanding work in the community.

Inspiration Award – a local unsung hero who goes the extra mile to serve their community.

The Mayor will also present a Mayor’s Recognition Award.

The winner will be an inspirational individual or group that has made an outstanding impression on the Mayor in her year of office.

This award is specifically decided by the Mayor and nominations will not be accepted.

To nominate someone for an award, apply to the Mayor with the following information:

Reason for Nomination (no more than 250 words)

Nominations must be submitted no later than Friday March 6 and can be posted to ‘Salt of the Earth’ Awards, Nantwich Civic Hall, Market Street, Nantwich, CW5 5DG, dropped off at the Civic Hall, or emailed to [email protected]
