High Sheriff of Cheshire Susan Sellers visited Nantwich Museum to pay tribute to the work of volunteers.
Mrs Sellers met volunteers and said without them, the Pillory Street venue would not survive.
She said the museum is a vital part of the Nantwich community and it was vital the opening hours are maintained and exhibitions organised along with a host of other activities.
Mrs Sellers met a number of volunteers and then toured the museum.
As a keen needleworker she took interest in the work of the museum’s Craft Group some of which features in a current exhibition.
The High Sheriff role in Cheshire dates back to 1135 with the aim of representing the monarch in matters relating to law and order.
Today the role is ceremonial, although the High Sheriff is still responsible for providing hospitality to Judges visiting the county.
