HGV fire on A500 Shavington bypass

Police have closed the A500 between the M6 and Nantwich as fire crews tackle a major lorry blaze.

A large amount of hay being transported by the lorry is on fire, and large plumes of smoke are covering the Shavington bypass carriageways.

It’s believed the incident is on the westbound section towards Nantwich, between the roundabout with the A5020 at Weston and the turn-off for Shavington.

A Cheshire Fire Service spokeswoman said crews were on site tackling the blaze.

“We have two vehicles there fighting the blaze with hose reels. There is a large amount of hay on board and a lot of smoke.

“Police have been asked to close the road while this incident is ongoing.”

A Cheshire Police spokesman added: “Cones have been placed at the A5020 roundabout for traffic coming from the M6. Traffic will be diverted while this incident is tackled.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
