Nantwich Town boss Danny Johnson hopes the fans who watched the Crewe Alexandra clash will help boost attendances this season.

Johnson, speaking of his pride in the way his team played, feels the impressive 1,224 Weaver Stadium crowd could spark bigger attendances when the 2014-15 campaign kicks off in a month’s time.

He said: “It’s really important to get a few quid in the coffers for the football club.

“But I think the Crewe fans who have been here, have seen that we can play and that we play it the right way.

“So we might hold onto the Crewe fans for when they are away from home.

“That’s the hope and we can boost our attendances and get 350/400 people at the Dabber dome and they get behind the team.”

The Dabbers lost 4-1 to their League One neighbours, with goals from Brad Inman, Billy Waters, Mathias Pogba and Callum Saunders giving the Alex the win.

Former Alex star man Steve Jones netted for the Dabbers.

“It was a great workout for us,” added Johnson.

“We have only been in for five sessions and it’s the first game for us. While Crewe have been in two or three weeks and are a League One full time football club.

“We are delighted with way the lads conducted themselves and especially in the second half, when the changes started to come, we kept our shape, played some really good football and had some really good really good possession.

“So we are really pleased with that. First half we had a tough start playing against a strong first 11 for Crewe but we stuck to our task.”

Steve Jones, the former Crewe Alexandra and Northern Ireland international, was making his first appearance for Nantwich and Johnson was delighted with his work.

“It’s great for him. Any forward will tell you that what he wants to do is score goals and Steve scored a great goal.

“There is a lot of work to do. But we are dead pleased for Steve and the rest of the forward lads.

“We just need to keep just moving forward and take out the positives and one of the main ones was that we got 60/70 minutes out of most of the lads and a couple a full 90.”

Nantwich Town have two more friendlies lined up this week.

They entertain Stockport County tomorrow night (Wednesday July 16), kick off 7.45pm.

Then they take on local side Crewe FC away at their Reaseheath base, this Saturday July 19, kick off 2pm.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
