A pair of swans nesting at a marina near Nantwich have caught the eye – after gaining an extra cygnet!

Mating swans at Aqueduct Marina, Church Minshull, hatched six cygnets at the end of May.

But, as these pictures show four weeks later, the same pair of swans now appear to have seven little ones swimming after them.

swans familyExperts say the extra cygnet may have been adopted from another clutch nearby.

Marina director Robert Parton said: “It is wonderful to see ‘our’ swans doing so well, particularly that they have increased their brood somehow!

“Swans have nested here at the marina every year since we opened in 2009, sometimes more successfully than others.”

Observers say the swan-in-charge is the same one as he sports the same damaged beak, so the brood is certainly the same one.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
