cinema project - regents park business centre

A church and social enterprise in Nantwich have teamed up to offer support to bereaved families in the town.

“Living with Loss” is the first Open Space project offered by Nantwich Elim Church in partnership with WellKin – Dance, Health and WellBeing.

WellKin, which aims to promote physical and mental wellbeing through dance activities throughout Cheshire, is based in the Olive Grove Conference Centre at Regents Park, off London Road.

Open Space, a partnership between the two organisations, aims to offer support services to the local community, with “Living with Loss” the first project to go live.

Rev Michelle Nunn, Senior Minister at Nantwich Elim, said: “At a tough time in life’s journey this well-needed group offers those living with loss the opportunity to meet with others also experiencing the loss of loved ones in a supportive and friendly environment.”

“Living with Loss” comprises two support groups – a discussion and prayer group and a movement therapy group.

The discussion and prayer group is relaxed and informal, led by Barbara Schultz who is a volunteer Chaplain at Leighton Hospital.

Barbara said: “Almost everyone experiences loss at some time in their lives.

“Each of these losses involves a period of bereavement. This support group allows people to share or just listen, to walk with others through the different stages of bereavement.”

The movement therapy group embraces Dance Movement Psychotherapy (DMP) which focuses on the body as a means of self expression.

This will be run by Shirley Brocklehurst, a registered dance movement psychotherapist who has worked with NHS Trusts and independent hospitals.

Shirley said: “Deeply rooted emotions affect the body as well as the mind and how the body moves, or doesn’t, affects the emotions.

“People who are overwhelmed by their situation aren’t always in a position to verbalise their feelings. Focusing on the body can bring release and address feelings such as isolation, anger or depression.”

“Living with Loss” takes place at the Olive Grove Conference Centre, Regents Park on Tuesday afternoons.

Anyone interested in attending the sessions can call 07760428554 for information.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
