Nantwich’s favourite feathered family is flourishing on the banks of the Weaver, as these pictures show!

Two cygnets and their mum and dad were seen near Waterlode this weekend by walkers out and about.

The cygnets are the only two to survive from six that were born on the banks of the River Weaver just over a month ago.

Experts say that sadly newly born cygnets often fall victim to mink or birds of prey.

Some witnesses also say they saw some of the baby swans washed away in the waterfalls along the Weaver.

But it seems these two youngsters have stayed strong and survived the crucial first few weeks.

Passerby Jonathan White, who sent these photos in, said: “It was nice to see them all in good health!”

Meanwhile, residents living near Queens Park in Crewe are calling for an investigation after a swan’s body was found badly mauled.

Some fear the swan was attacked by a dog allowed off its lead, and fear other swans and a recent batch of seven cygnets are in danger.

A shocking image of the swan’s badly mutilated body has been posted on Welcome to Queens Park Crewe blog, in a bid to highlight the problem.

Jan Wright, who runs the blog, says they don’t believe initial claims it was attacked by a fox are true.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
