Pupils and teachers across Nantwich are putting the final touches to the eagerly-anticipated SkoolsFest 2014 event later this month.

The event will see all 16 schools in the Nantwich Education Partnership (NEP) take part for the second festival of its kind.

And as well as children performing in venues across Nantwich, there will be a brass band in the square, church stalls,  a farmer’s market and rides and activities.

Andrew Ross (pictured), chair of NEP and headteacher of Millfields Primary School, said: “The festival will be a celebration and seeks to emphasise the importance of all the arts subjects in the education of Nantwich pupils, whatever their age or stage in education.

“All 16 schools in the partnership – 14 primary and the two high schools – are participating and showcasing all that is wonderful about the arts and education in our town.”

The festival is set to take place on Saturday June 28, using a number  of venues in the centre of Nantwich.

The day will begin with the “Big Sing” – a combined schools’ choir singing on the green outside St Mary’s Church at 10am.

School bands will later compete against each other in the Nantwich “Battle of the Bands” event at the Civic Hall.

And there will be drama productions presented and films produced by children screened.

Nantwich Museum will host an exhibition, featuring artwork collected from all the schools in Nantwich

“The Journeyman” is showcasing story-telling throughout the day.

Author Rachael Lindsay will be at Nantwich Library, while Urban Strides are offering dance workshops at the parish rooms.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
