Scouts from Nantwich and Wistaston triumphed in a two-day county event tackling route planning, incident bases, cooking and camping.
The Cheshire Hike event sees Scouts set off from different starting points in the county before meeting up at a combined finish a day later.
They plot their own route from map co-ordinates, reach checkpoints where they have to complete set tasks and then camp overnight – getting scored along the way.
And there was some county success for South West Cheshire district as Thomas Backhouse and Connor McDonnell, from 35th South West in Wistaston, won the Cheshire Intermediate trophy as well as their district trophy.
Also collecting district prizes when the walkers reached their final destination at Bishops High School in Chester were William Hall and Harry Vincent, of 3rd Nantwich, who won the Junior section.
Joseph Wright and Jack Threadgold, of Mallory Explorer Unit in Nantwich, were the senior district winners and Robyn Martin and Chloe Shore of 2nd Wheelock were the Senior Plus winners.
Organiser Trevor Burgess said: “The Cheshire Hike is a genuine test of the practical skills these Scouts learn week in and week out at their groups.
“It challenges them to put them into practice and working with a partner over many months builds real friendships.
“Putting the event on for so many youngsters is a mammoth undertaking and wouldn’t be possible without an army of volunteers at the starts, base camps and checkpoints and we are very grateful to everyone who gives up their time to help make it happen.”
