Popular Nantwich band Blitz Kids have been “overwhelmed” by the success of their latest album.

In an interview with Nantwichnews, singer Joe James said they never expected The Good Youth to receive the airplay it has.

The studio album, recorded and produced in Los Angeles, is a powerful mix of crunching rock tunes which retains a consistently high quality and performance through all 12 songs.

The album was released through US label  Red Bull Records on January 20 and is their first studio album in three years.

Seven days after the release came their latest single “Sometimes”, which has received a string of positive reviews after being played on national radio stations, including BBC Radio 1.

Joe told us: “The reception we’ve had has been overwhelming!

“The radio play we’re getting isn’t what we ever expected in our wildest dreams.

“I haven’t heard one bad thing about the album yet.”

The band, whose members all hail from Nantwich and Crewe, recorded the album with renown American producer John Feldmann.

And regardless of the location change, Joe feels the band’s mentality always stays the same.

“It’s just us four. We’re a band, we bounce off each other and we write together, so we’re never going to change depending on the location we’re in.

“But we were a bit sick of writing negative songs, so we wanted to flip that on its head.

“Going to LA helped that, that’s part of the reason we decided to go.”

Blitz Kids have just completed a run of six album launch headline shows, finishing it at London’s Red Bull Studios on Thursday night (January 30).

The band again saw lots of positivity and success through the live shows and are finding it all a bit surreal!

“The fans are brilliant! It’s one thing to listen to an album and enjoy it, but it’s another thing to know all the words.

“That’s crazy, I couldn’t do that myself.

“More has happened in this past month for our band than I think in the past three years.

“It’s crazy, we love it obviously, but it is a bit strange, I haven’t really had chance to take it all in yet.”

Blitz Kids will continue their live shows as they once again leave behind Nantwich and head to Europe for the first time.

They will be supporting popular band All Time Low who kick off the tour in Helsinki on February 16.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
