Nantwich signal box

Network Rail is set to demolish Nantwich’s aging railway signal box if plans get given the go ahead.

They have submitted plans to Cheshire East Council to knock down the signal box at the level crossing on Wellington Road.

Work would include disconnection and isolation for gas, water, sewage and electricity, services, and removal of asbestos which was found in the fabric of the building after a survey.

The work, to be done after April 16 if permission is granted, would mean the road and level crossing being closed for a period of time.

Once demolished, they plan to erect a palisade fence to protect the railway from trespass.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

  1. Muller homes probably think they can buy it and fit a few houses on it.

  2. I thought for some reason it was a listed building, but obviously not.

Its a real pity it cant stay as its a bit of a Nantwich landmark in My eyes.
