A busy Nantwich road finally has double yellow lines after months of complaining by residents over parking problems.
The lines have been put down on a section of London Road close to the junction with Jackson Avenue near to The Leopard pub.
Many residents complained about parking on pavements and kerbs, blocking the view for drivers emerging out of Jackson Avenue.
One resident Chris Anderson has waged war on Twitter, urging the council and police to crackdown on the problem.
He has regularly posted photos of cars and vans blocking pavements and parking on kerbs, obscuring views.
He said: “It’s almost two years from when I started complaining.
“Getting nowhere, I used Twitter to get the message across and that was a year ago.
“We are all happy now. Parking cannot be a comprise for safety.”
Cllr Peter Groves urged Cheshire East Council’s Highways team late last year to take action, as revealed by Nantwichnews.
But some residents living along the stretch between Jackson Avenue and St Joseph’s Way have lodged objections to plans for double yellow lines.
“Trying to get out of St Joseph’s Way or Jackson Avenue back on to London Road is like playing Russian Roulette because you can’t see anything,” Cllr Groves said at the time.
“We understand that some on London Road are unhappy but they have parking at the rear,” added Mr Anderson.

Fantastic news, just a shame they didn’t go round the corner and put some along Millstone Lane which is a far bigger bottleneck.

Fanatstic News! Well done Cheshire East. I know they have been working towards this for a while. This has not been a knee jerk reaction at all and it has been a major problem affecting the near 100 or so households on Jackson avenue for a number of years now.
Im glad something has finally been done about it before an accident has occured as i’m aware of a few near missess of people trying to get out of this junction with no view of the traffic on london road – especially with the number of drivers not obeying the 30mph limit and speeding down london road in a morning!
Of course it would have been great not to have more yellow paint on our roads, but ultimately it is inconsiderate drivers in the London road area and patrons of the Leopard pub dumping their cars in dangerous positions on the junction and on the pavement that have caused this issue. So what else can they expect.
Like a lot of these knee-jerk reactions, it just shifts the problem somewhere else instead of resolving it.
The council need to repair the pavement on London road first .It’s in an appaling state crumbled away and full of pot holes.
Brilliant, now even more people are parking down Milstone Lane which is busier than London and is a busy bus route and vital route for emergency services.
Instead of satisfying a small group of London Road residents why not look at methods of improving conditions for the larger community
Agreed, Nick, and those who are in a position to actually do something about it are moving slower than the traffic.
