Councillors have objected to plans to build 11 homes on land close to a busy Nantwich junction.
Thomas Jones and Sons have submitted proposals to build the properties on land at Wrens Close, off Peter de Stapleigh Way, in Stapeley.
But Nantwich Town Councillors raised objections to the plan at a meeting last night (January 13), saying the town has “enough homes”.
Cllr Andrew Martin said: “We should object to this.
“Peter de Stapleigh Way is a very busy road for children walking to Brine Leas and Pear Tree schools, and there is already a lot of development in the area.
“We just don’t have the infrastructure any more to cope with more homes.”
Cllr Arthur Moran said: “In principle we should oppose this and be consistent in that we have said we have houses in Nantwich now with 1,800 in the Core Strategy accounted for.
“We have to oppose these developers wherever we can.”
Resident Christine Slater, who lives near the site, has lodged an objection, fearing flooding problems.
“There is a pond in the field immediately behind no 81 Audlem Road,” she said.
“I am concerned if proper drainage is not put into place then this may lead to flooding in my own and surrounding gardens.”
In a report to Cheshire East, the developers say: “The proposal regenerates an under used site with a high quality housing
development which will be an attractive and sustainable place to live.
“It creates a sensitive response to the site and its surroundings.”
Cheshire East planners are due to make a decision on the proposals by February 19.
