A young Wybunbury schoolgirl has had her long locks cut off in aid of children who lost their hair through cancer.

Big-hearted Daisy Lyon, eight, decided to donate her hair after getting it cut at Johnston Brady in Nantwich.

And the hair, as well as more than £300 she has raised in sponsorship, will help the Little Princess Trust which makes wigs for children who lost their hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses.

Daisy’s proud mum Lorna, from Shavington, said they have been overwhelmed by the support for Daisy’s fund-raising stunt.

“She needed to have her haircut anyway and I’d heard about the charity that singer Jessie J had donated to,” said Lorna.

Daisy Lyon2“I mentioned the charity to Daisy and explained what it did, that it helps children who sometimes lose their hair when they are poorly. But I left it with her.

“She made the decision and I am really proud of her. It was a big step to take.

“Her hair was very very long, all the way down to her waist!”

The family set up a Just Giving page to help raise an extra £50 to give to Little Princess Trust along with her hair.

But after staff at Wybunbury Delves Primary sent out the appeal to parents, scores came forward and she has now raised almost £350.

“The response has been amazing,” added Lorna.

“We’ve sent her hair off to the charity, and she will be getting a certificate at some point.

“Daisy has two younger sisters as well, and the four-year-old is already asking if she can do it!”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
