Nantwich Town boss Danny Johnson has swooped to sign Witton marksman Steve Foster.
Johnson has brought in the prolific striker who should go straight into the squad to face Barwell tomorrow (October 26).
Barwell have not won in five league games but are six points better off in the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division.
So Johnson will be hoping Foster and his new team-mates can turn around Nantwich’s current slide of three successive league defeats.
Johnson announced on Twitter late last night that a deal had been agreed with Foster.
“Really pleased to announce the signing, subject to paperwork, of Steve Foster. I’m sure all Dabbers suopporters will join me in welcoming him to the Weaver Stadium,” he tweeted.
“We’re always ready, the lads’ self-confidence has been hit a little over the last few weeks with a couple of defeats but we’ll be ready, we’ll dust ourselves down this week and look to put in a competitive show like we’ve been doing.
“We haven’t been far away, we just need the ball to bounce for us or go in off our backsides to scrape a win and I think we’ll be up and running.”
And with injury worries racking up – Mark Jones, Danny Caldecott, Earl Davis and Sam Wilson all facing fitness tests – Foster’s experience will be a welcome addition.
New signing Osebi Abadaki showed glimpses of his quality when he came on in the second half against Ilkeston.
“He came on for half an hour and brightened things up that’s what he does but he’s going to frustrate us at the same time,” added Johnson.
“He wants to learn the game. I’ve had a good chat with him because I’ve worked with him before and told him my thoughts about him and what he needs to do to improve.
“He created the goal for Harry and he got at their left back and got some crosses in. He’s got good pace, a trick, and he’ll be a good player for us if he continues in that vein.”
Nantwich face a long trip to St Ives in the FA Trophy on November 2.
“We need to make sure we’re ready,” said Johnson.
“They’re in the same league as Rugby Town who we played in the FA Cup so it’s not going to be easy but Rugby beat them 3-0 a couple of weeks ago and we know we should have beaten them.
“We know what we’ve got to do, we’ve just got to look at ourselves and what we do and if we do that we’ve every chance of progressing through.”
