exhibition half term Nantwich Museum, flagday, stages First World War talks

A talk on the 1oo years of Chatwins is taking place at Nantwich Museum next month.

Paul Rooney will be hosting the talk at the Pillory Street venue on Wednesday October 2.

It is the story of the oldest bakery in Cheshire, which was established in 1913 in the centre of Nantwich by John Chatwin.

In those days bread was delivered using a horse-drawn van.

Today the company employs more than 300 bakers and shop staff with over 20 shops and coffee lounges throughout Cheshire and Staffordshire.

The talk forms a part of the Nantwich Eats exhibition. Tickets cost £3, museum members £2, and are now available from the museum shop.

Nantwich Eats runs until October 26. Inspired by the Chatwins centenary, it tells the story of 100 years of food shopping in the town with fascinating insights into a constantly changing scene.

Focusing on key dates from 1913, the exhibition illustrates changes in food shopping habits, where people shopped, when, what they bought and how it was bought.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

It may be the oldest bakery in Nantwich but I doubt it is the oldest bakery in Cheshire!
