Eighteen volunteers of Nantwich Litter Group blitzed rubbish in the Barony area of the town.
Workers tidied Barony Park, Barony Road, Middlewich Road up to the A500 roundabout, and smaller nearby roads.
They also targeted the path behind Sainsbury’s supermarket garage and down Beam Heath Way.
It’s the latest in a series of Group Picks the team has organised to help clean up Nantwich.
The Keep Britain Tidy charity has warned that the annual cost of keeping the nation’s streets clean could soon exceed £1 billion.
Litter dropped each year amounts to around 30 million tonnes. Smoking related litter, such as cigarette butts, cigarette packets, and lighters, is the most prevalent followed by fast food items.
Keep Britain Tidy chief executive Phil Barton said: “Enough is Enough.
“It is time for the Government, businesses and the rest of the population to make a choice and act on it – which side of the fence are you on?”
The next Nantwich Group Pick will be on Wednesday August 28. New members are welcome and equipment can be provided.
