Talking Scarlet and Eastbourne Theatres have South Cheshire audiences on the edge of their seats this week with their show “Deathtrap’ at Crewe Lyceum.
And this psychological thriller is a must for those who like to be left guessing right until the very end.
Written by Ira Levin, the production deals with the darker aspects of human nature including greed, desire and poses the ultimate question of whether you could actually plan and commit murder.
The cast were superb. Stephen Beckett played Sidney Bruhl, an ageing play-write with fitting malevolence and style.
Cast opposite was Griffin Stevens as Clifford Anderson, a new and upcoming crime writer.
Stevens portrayed the shrewd and astute Anderson with expertise and I’m sure we will see him again in future productions.
For me, this production presents theatre as it should be.
Well produced and directed, with a talented cast who deliver a strong script.
