An open-air theatre company is bringing the very best of Sherlock Holmes to Nantwich this summer.

Chapterhouse Theatre Company will perform the famous Hound of the Baskervilles in the grounds of Reaseheath College on July 20.

It’s one of almost 100 performances at  historic and picturesque venues during a summer tour of the UK – including Chatsworth House and Canary Warf.

It’s the 14th season the company has embarked on an open-air theatre tour, after launching in 2000 with Romeo and Juliet.

In previous years, they have toured with shows including Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Twelfth Night and The Taming of The Shrew, and popular adaptations of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice.

A spokeswoman said: “Open-air theatre lends itself perfectly to pre-show picnics creating an enjoyable and memorable experience for any audience.

“A wonderful opportunity for friends and family to sit back and enjoy the pleasure of each other’s company while indulging in a glass of chilled summer wine and watching a wonderfully traditional evening of entertainment.”

Sherlock Holmes and the Hound of the Baskervilles is perhaps Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle’s most popular work of the super sleuth.

Set on the lonely wasteland of the desolate Devon moors, death stalks the Baskerville family, and legend and superstition collide with the most heinous of crimes.

The July 20 show starts at 7pm.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
